On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there.

How blest we are when women pray together, with their understanding and sensitivity! They also encourage one another. Here, there weren’t enough men for a synagogue. But God saw their exercise, and brought them the gospel that prepared them, with others, to be the first New Testament church in Greece, soon to be in fellowship with more.
