They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the LORD Almighty had sent … “When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,” says the LORD Almighty.

Israel’s refusal to listen made God so angry, he uprooted them for seventy years. If we refuse to listen to God when he calls, he will refuse to listen when we need him. Those who think they can turn on God’s compassion like a tap, soon find he is not a soft touch.
