“Ask all the people of the land and the priests, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months for the past seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?’”
Zechariah 7:5
Although the people of Bethel (House of God) had fasted and mourned for 70 years they had unwittingly done it just for themselves. The example of their so-called ‘faithfulness’ is a lesson today for our consistent and faithful walk – that we do it for him with wholesome and genuine hearts.
