This is an example of what the apostle John wrote about as being ‘the boastful pride of life’ (1 Jn.2:16 NASB). How important it is for believers in the Lord to keep a proper perspective on whatever material blessings we have in this world – that the Lord is the giver of every good thing and that our lives do not consist in the abundance or splendour of what we possess.
