The carol Silent Night, in its English translation says, round yon virgin mother and child. Mathew reverses that order – his focus is on the child. That is repeated 3 times in this chapter: v13,14 and 20.
The inspiration of the Holy Spirit is vital though easily missed.
Oh, note too, the gifts are for the child, not Mary and Joseph.
