For Joseph, being a righteous man, perhaps his thoughts were drawn to the early part of the scriptures; of a God who could create something from nothing, in darkness; of the Spirit of God hovering over the waters. This feat of bringing a baby into the darkness of the womb would certainly be within God’s power and the involvement of the Spirit would make sense to him. The name he was to call this child perhaps intimated something new happening … something exciting … something ‘life changing’.
It was that!
