“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”
Isaiah 43:1
Isaiah recorded these wonderfully reassuring words of the Lord to Israel, going on to remind them, you are precious in my eyes, and honoured, and I love you. Many centuries later, John wrote of the Lord, He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out (Jn.10:3), recording later in his first letter, We love because he first loved us. (4:19) How amazing to realise that all down the centuries our great God and Saviour has known each and every one of his own by name. That really does make us feel precious and honoured.
