The Jews were right when they murmured about what the Lord said to the man let down through the roof – who can forgive sins but God? (Lk.5:21) Stephen, even though a man full of the Holy Spirit, who saw a wonderful vision, could not forgive sins. It is not in the gift of any man to do so. The Jewish leaders in Luke 5 said that it would be blasphemy for any to say they can.
