When the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.
Exodus 14:31
Faith is strengthened by exercise: Israel had to step out in faith and walk down into the riverbed. Only when they reached the other side could they look back and see what God had done for them. The individual, personal exercise of faith strengthened their trust in God and in Moses’ divinely inspired leadership.
