The living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him. … Now to you who believe, this stone is precious.
1 Peter 2:4,7
He was chosen by God because he was precious to him, eternally. That value is surely increased because of his work at Calvary and what has been made possible – a spiritual house for God.
He has become precious to us as well, for the same reasons – his cross work to redeem us and his setting as we are built on him in the house of God.
