As a Christian, saying ‘no’ to self is unnatural for our old nature. The new nature will say ‘yes’ to Jesus and want to follow him. This involves taking up the walk and character of Christ every day and looking to him for strength to live in his power as we shine in this dark and darkening world. If you take the word ‘self’, reverse it and add an ‘h’ it becomes flesh – the old nature.
