By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light.

The Lord led the Israelites 24/7; day or night made no difference. Nor did the death of Moses and the change of leadership. The Lord reassured Joshua, “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you…for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh.1:5,9) God never changes and nor does his willingness to lead and guide us. Three and a half millennia later, God’s promise to Joshua still holds good; and if we accept the Lord’s invitation to Come, follow me, our experience will be no different.
