During the night I had a vision, and there before me was a man mounted on a red horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in a ravine.

Zechariah 1:8

The myrtle tree is symbolical of beauty and sweetness. The rider on the red horse was the angel of Lord (the Lord Jesus in theophany form) with a beauty far beyond that of the myrtle tree. Later the Lord talked to Zechariah kind and comforting words (v13). The Bible is where we find the beauty and sweetness of Christ, who will speak with kind and comforting words in those times of our lowest valley.
