Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

Even though an official decree prohibited Daniel from praying to God, he continued giving thanks to God just as he had done before.
When forced to make such a choice, we must obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29).
