“Now be strong, Zerubbabel,” declares the LORD. “Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,” declares the LORD, “and work. For I am with you,” declares the LORD Almighty.
Haggai 2:4
The work of the Lord takes effort, courage, persistence, and consistency, with sometimes very few results. Zerubbabel and Joshua are being encouraged to be strong, for the Lord’s guarantee is that he is with them. When we recognise the Lord is with us, the work becomes a joy, is for him in whatever we do, and the results are left to him.
