“Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.”

2 Chronicles 6:21

In his prayer of dedication of the Temple, Solomon pleads with God on eight separate occasions to ‘hear from heaven’. Readily acknowledging the huge gulf that exists between God in heaven and his people on earth, he marvels ‘Will God really dwell on earth with man?’ continuing, ‘even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this temple that I have built’ (v.18). Solomon concludes by asking, ‘Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place’ (v.40). How reassuring that the Great God of heaven still hears and answers our prayers.
