Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the Book of Moses … how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

People whose bodies have died are still alive to God. The story told by the Lord Jesus in Luke 16, about the rich man and Lazarus the beggar (who died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom), provides further evidence confirming this striking statement.
