I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

Lamentations 3:24

Jerusalem had fallen, the Temple was destroyed, and God’s people were taken as slaves. Everything seemed hopeless and Jeremiah knew that God was punishing his people for their sinfulness. But Jeremiah was wise. He was content to wait on God knowing that God’s compassions never fail but are new every morning (v22-23). Let us make God our portion too and, like Jeremiah, thank him every morning for his great compassion and love towards us.
