Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Mark 1:9

For his disciples, baptism symbolised death to the old, sinful nature: and resurrection as the beginning of a new life of faith, empowered by the Spirit of God. For the Lord Jesus Christ, baptism foreshadowed his atoning death for sinners and victorious resurrection in the power of an endless life (Heb.7:16). From the outset of his public ministry, he was dedicated to the fulfilment of the divine plan for our salvation — praise God!
