“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel ” – which means, “God with us.”

Many virgins go on to conceive, which was how this prophecy of Isaiah was originally fulfilled. Matthew, guided by the Spirit, appreciates that the far more remarkable fulfillment took place with Mary, a truly virgin birth. God was with Mary in a unique way, but it led to the truth of the incarnate God being with us, mankind. Another lovely name of our Saviour, as it brings God’s great plans into reality. Just ponder on some today.
