For the LORD … shows no partiality. … He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.
Deuteronomy 10:17-19
The thread of God’s care for the disadvantaged is picked up again here: the fatherless, the motherless, the bereaved or the immigrant—all are watched over in love by the God of heaven, who grants justice to those wronged or slighted. (Compare with Deut.14:29)
