Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

James 4:14

How true? Who could have predicted the Coronavirus pandemic which swept the world, or the devastating financial consequences and health issues that would come in its wake? Only our great omnipotent God, of whom Isaiah writes, I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning. (46:9-10) That’s wonderfully reassuring. It allows us to concentrate on serving him today, leaving him to take care of tomorrow, giving effect to the words of J. Parker’s lovely hymn,

God holds the key of all unknown, and I am glad. PHSS 190
