“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Luke 6:27-28,31

Jesus instructed his followers to respond to provocation by doing the exact opposite of their natural instincts. Loving those who hate us, being kind to those who’ve been unkind to us, doesn’t come naturally. It’s easy to be nice to those who like us. We need divine power to show the same consideration to our enemies.
