“How I long for the months gone by, for the days when God watched over me.”
Job 29:2
Job had lost virtually everything from his life. As he looked in retrospect in this summary to his companions, he underlined what he had always known, that God had kept watch over him.
Satan knew it too of course. He could only venture so far though. He asked for permission to shake Peter to see what he was made of. The Lord Jesus told Peter of his prayer for him. (Lk.22:31-32)
Job did not have that security, but we do for he says I am with you always.
