For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Exodus 20:11
This was the reason given for resting through the seventh day, at the first giving of the Ten Commandments, and we notice the blessing attached. We still need a rest every seventh day from earthly labour and worries. The key is to seek God’s face through Jesus. We can find more of this in 1 Corinthians 4:6 where we are encouraged not to invent other regulations.
