The flax and barley were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom. The wheat and spelt, however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.

How frequently do people miss the good hand of God in action? The Egyptians were shown the mercy of God in that some crops escaped the hail stones and would be able to be harvested in season. God longed for them to repent and live. But they missed it.

It is the case many times in our lives too. Let’s not grumble at what we perceive has gone wrong but look for what God does in his grace for us, daily.
