It has been well said that pride goes before a fall. Daniel reminded King Belshazzar of the judgement that had befallen Nebuchadnezzar which taught him a reverence for God that was lacking in Belshazzar. God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. (Gal.6:7)
