How do we regard God’s word today, in a world where the vast majority pay it little, if any, heed? Does he look on us with favour as those who tremble in awe when we consider that our Almighty God not only provided us with his written word, the Bible, but also sent his only Son – and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (Jn.1:14) – to bring us to himself. As the choir of angels sang at his birth, we truly are those on whom his favour rests (Lk.2:14).
