“Here is Rebekah; take her and go, and let her become the wife of your master’s son, as the LORD has directed.”
Genesis 24:51
The key to this verse lies in the last four words: the Lord has directed. Faced with the evidence from Abraham’s servant that this request had come from the Lord, Laban and Bethuel were happy to agree. So was Rebekah; when asked, ‘will you go with this man?’ she didn’t hesitate and replied, ‘I will go’. What a lovely picture this paints of a readiness to respond positively to the Master’s call. May we too always be ready to go with this man when Jesus calls us to follow him.
