“Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Our Lord had met the imperative of fulfilling all the scriptures written about him, many of them speaking of his suffering for us on Calvary. He had expounded them to the two disciples on the Emmaus road, and the effect was immediate, Did not our hearts burn within us? they said. Shortly afterwards, our Lord ascended to heaven, and we read that those left behind on the slopes of Olivet, returned to Jerusalem with great joy and were continually in the temple blessing God. As we reflect on these things, do we not experience similar feelings of joyful, burning hearts?
