Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.

In this coming week the humanity of the Lord would be made so evident, culminating with his cry of thirst. There is great evidence of his divinity in this incident as the fig tree which the Lord looked to for fruit soon withered at his command. The evidence for his divinity after his cry of thirst was known 3 days later when the tomb was found to be empty early in the morning.
