Earlier in v.9 we read that the leaders of God’s people had given freely and wholeheartedly, so that the people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders. Here, David is putting such giving into perspective by acknowledging its true source, not wishing to take credit for what was not really his to give. Such honesty was doubtless one of the characteristics which caused the Lord to consider David a man after my own heart (Ac.13:22). Are we equally ready to acknowledge and give thanks to our Father for his amazing generosity?
