Any parent knows the power a baby holds to interest and brighten the day for older folk, who surround the new life with prayer. So also is the effect on old or young of one new to faith through the church’s witness—prospect of discipleship, perhaps a successor in load-bearing. We need to pray often for fresh life from our personal and collective witness.
