Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

Matthew 4:11

Having starved for 40 days whilst withstanding the devil’s attempts to discredit him and thwart the plan of salvation, Jesus must have been exhausted. So his Father sent angels to attend him. Three years later, at the end of his life of public ministry, the Lord was again in need of support. On his knees in the Garden, wrestling with the horrifying prospect of Calvary, Jesus asked his disciples to ‘watch and pray’. But they failed and fell asleep! Once again, an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him (Luke 22: 43). If ever he requires our support, let’s ensure WE never fail him.
