I will stand at my watch
and station myself on the ramparts.
God’s people, in the time of Habakkuk, were facing the cruel oppression of the Assyrians and were in spiritual decline. God promised a glorious rescue and reconciliation for Israel, but the watchman had to live by faith and wait on his God.
Our world is no different. Everywhere, evil godless practices encroach and God’s people are under attack. But, brothers and sisters, take heart. Stand your watch faithfully, wait and pray for the salvation of our God. It will surely come.
