To separate the holy from the common.

Ezekiel 42:20

The wilderness tabernacle had a white linen screen all around. Solomon’s temple had a perimeter wall, as did this one in Ezekiel’s vision of the future temple. It highlights a simple yet important principle for us as believers in the Lord – the importance of maintaining a separation between the holy, sacred things of the Lord and the ‘common’ things of this world. The Lord Jesus said of his disciples that they were not of the world (Jn.15:19). We live in the world, we testify to the world, we are lights to the world – but we need to ensure the world does not contaminate that which is holy, sacred in us and in our worship and service.
Tomorrow is a day for the Lord!
