Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Hebrews 12:1

It’s more of a marathon than a sprint that the writer to the Hebrews seems to have in mind. 500 years before this was written, a Greek soldier, in an incredible feat of endurance, ran the 25 miles to Athens from the battlefield of Marathon with news of victory over the Persians. Sadly, he collapsed and died upon arrival.
The Lord has marked out the course for us. To complete it successfully we need single-minded concentration and endurance; and what a role-model we have in the One who endured the shame and pain of Calvary to finish the course his Father had marked out for him!
