‘When a foreigner … comes from a far country
for your name’s sake (for they shall hear of your great name and your mighty hand, and of your outstretched arm),
when he comes and prays toward this house,
hear in heaven your dwelling place and do …’

The great heart of King Solomon felt the need of the newcomer and knew the favoured place God gave them in his law. Perhaps he thought of his ancestor, Ruth, the immigrant from Moab, and of how she was valued by Boaz, landowner of Bethlehem.
Prayer for newcomers is time well spent.
