Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra,
where a disciple named Timothy lived,
whose mother was Jewish and a believer
but whose father was a Greek.
The believers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him.
Paul wanted to take him along on the journey.

Acts 16:1-3

A third visit for the Galatian churches. Now there’s a young man who has made such progress in the faith taught by Jesus and his apostles that he’s ready to be trained as an evangelist. His family (2 Tim.1:5) and elders have confidence to let him go with these loved men. Here’s a great goal for youth to aim for!
