‘He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.’
The great poetry of Isaiah’s prophecy captures the poignancy of our Lord’s willingness to give himself into shame and death for us.
May we be ready to offer into his hands our thanksgiving – the poem we are making – for him (Ps.45:1).
