For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.’

Ezekiel 34:11-12

It’s familiar and effective biblical imagery – the shepherd and his sheep. God portrays himself as the Shepherd of his sheep, his children, and he cares for us deeply, ever seeking to restore and deliver us. No wonder David employed such powerful imagery in the timeless and touching psalm 23. The Lord Jesus also famously described himself as the Good Shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep (Jn 10:11).
What a blessing to be a part of the flock of the Lord!
