Then they made loops of blue material
along the edge of the end curtain in one set,
and the same was done with the end curtain in the other set …
Then they made fifty gold clasps and used them to fasten the two sets of curtains together so that the tabernacle was a unit.

Exodus 36:11,13

Here was a lesson in unity. The blue of the loops signified the obedience of Christ to the will of the Father; and the gold of the clasps or hooks, his divine character. These qualities in his disciples are essential to equip them to stand together, upholding the one design of divine service.
