But these (signs) are written that you may believe that
Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God,
and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 20:31

For some, his word was enough to bring conviction, but others needed a miraculous sign. By one means or the other, those he met were drawn to the Saviour. We have neither seen nor heard him, but simply read an account of what he said and did as recorded for us by John and the other Gospel writers. Their simple objective was to bring their readers to believe in Jesus. We can associate with those to whom Peter wrote for, like us, they had never met Jesus, even though you do not see him now, you believe in him (1 Pet.1:8).
