Going a little farther,
he fell with his face to the ground and prayed,
’My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.
Yet not as I will, but as you will.’
Included in the prayer the Lord Jesus gave as a framework is the phrase, ’Your will be done on earth.’ The Lord Jesus was no hypocrite, so it is good to put our prayers in that setting as he did.
We do his will in remembering him, including that subjected spirit, and it leads us to wonder and worship.
