“Make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it …: HOLY TO THE LORD. It will be on Aaron’s forehead, and he will bear the guilt involved in the sacred gifts the Israelites consecrate, … It will be on Aaron’s forehead continually so that they will be acceptable to the LORD.”
The shortfall in the holiness of the gifts brought by the Israelites was to be taken on by the High Priest.
Our High Priest has born the burden of all our failures at Calvary, so that the one who is holy himself, can present our gifts perfectly to his Father and thus they are accepted. It’s another wonderful outcome of his work at Calvary. We have no cause to think they will be unacceptable, but we do need to bring them with reverence.
