His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness.

Isaiah 52:14

The cruelty, wickedness and hatred of man to God, their Creator the Lord Jesus Christ, was beyond description. He was treated with disdain, beaten beyond recognition, spat upon, insulted, lacerated unmercifully, taunted, jeered at, his beard pulled from his cheeks and finally nails hammered through his hands and feet on a cross of wood. Yet he was silent through it all. That was all for me and you … do we understand a little to touch our emotions?

Wounded for me, wounded for me,
There on the cross he was wounded for me;
Gone my transgressions, and now I am free,
All because Jesus was wounded for me. W.G.Owens
