“She has done a beautiful thing to me. …She did what she could.”

Mark 14:6,8

Quite clearly the beautiful thing which this dear woman did for the Lord touched him deeply. She had a very valuable personal possession – a flask of costly ointment with which she anointed Jesus in a spontaneous action of love. I don’t think that ‘cost’ came into it as far as she was concerned; she just wanted the Lord to have the very best. What about us? When it comes to serving the Lord, can it always be said of us that we’ve done what we could?
