I want you to be wise about what is good,
and innocent about what is evil.

Romans 16:19

The ‘wisdom’ here is really the sense of being skillful. What an aspiration for us as followers of Christ also to embrace – that when it comes to what is good, we should aim to become ‘skillful’! That only happens through continual practice of course.
Conversely then, when it comes to things that are evil or even have the appearance of evil, we are to be innocent – meaning ‘unmixed, untainted’. Being occupied and focused on the former will leave little time or desire for the latter!
