‘The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save.’

Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)

How reassuring that our God is not only ‘mighty to save’ but is also ‘in our midst’. He is, as the Psalmist reminds us, an ever-present help in trouble (Ps.46:1). He is not remote and distant, but One who is always with us. The message John was instructed to write to the church in Ephesus underlines this wonderful truth, describing our Lord as the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands (Rev.2:1). Sometimes when things go wrong in our lives, we can feel desperately alone. But there’s no need. We have the Lord’s assurance, ‘Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ (Matt.28:20)
