I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.

Psalm 40:1

Patience seems to be in pretty short supply these days, as does waiting. Indeed, society today wants everything yesterday! But in spiritual matters, patience is both a virtue and a necessity. God cannot be rushed and is in control of time as of everything else. Looking back over his eventful life, David readily acknowledged that my times are in your hands (Ps.31:15).
As we consider the plans the Lord has mapped out for our lives, we do well to heed Paul’s advice: Let us run with patience the race that is set before us (Heb.12:1).
